Michigan Radio Presents Special Thanksgiving Programs

Michigan Radio, the public radio station of the University of Michigan, will air two special programs this Thanksgiving. These programs, “Turkey Confidential” and “Third Coast International Audio Festival”, will help you get into the swing of the holiday season.

“Turkey Confidential”, which airs Thursday, November 24 at 11 am, is an hour of Thanksgiving morning triage for cooks across the nation. Lynne Rossetto Kasper of The Splendid Table and Marketplace host Kai Ryssdal will be taking your calls in a live, one-hour broadcast when you need it most: the biggest cooking day of the year. Lynne and Kai will field your questions on everything from pepping up your gravy to Tofurky and uses for left-over sweet potatoes. Turkey explode in the oven? No problem! Help is just a phone call away.

“Third Coast International Audio Festival” airs on Thursday, November 24 at 8 pm. This program chronicles the 2005 Third Coast Festival, held at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Chicago. The festival celebrated the best audio documentaries of the year and you’ll hear some of the winners in this special two-hour audio event. And encore presentation of “Third Coast International Audio Festival” will air on Sunday, November 27 at 8 pm.

“These programs are a special treat for the holiday” says Station Manager Jon Hoban. “Turkey Confidential is one way to keep the stress of Thanksgiving Day in perspective. Later, after a long nap, the Third Coast International Audio Festival will be an evening of audio exploration for the whole family.”

Mojo In The Morning CD Pulled From Stores: Legal Trouble

The latest collection of prank phone calls and other favorite moments from WKQI-FM 95.5's morning show -- Mojo In The Morning Phone Scams Volume 7 -- has been temporarily shelved while the station's management deals with a legal issue. The CD featured a can of Spam on its cover, with the famous logo altered to read "Scam." This was enough to earn a cease & desist order from Hormel Foods, makers of the famed luncheon meat product. With a potential lawuit on their hands, Mojo In The Morning decided to immediately alter the album artwork. The CD, sans Spam, will be available for purchase at all area Post Bars on Monday, once the offending can is removed from all copies. Online orders are still currently being honored and people will receive the CD with new artwork.

Channel 955 morning show host Mojo says: "It's ironic that we feature 18 Phone Scam victims on this CD, but the threat of a lawsuit came from our artwork! Regardless, we made the necessary changes so that the CD would remain available for holiday gift buyers."

Morning show co-host Spike added: "We only meant to pay homage to our favorite chopped pork shoulder meat product."

Mojo In The Morning has been waking up Detroit since February 2000 and is the #1 morning show for women in Detroit. Mojo, Spike, Sara, Chad, and Kyra broadcast 5:00-10:30 AM weekdays.
