WDET to carry Rosa Parks' funeral service Wed Nov. 2

WDET-FM 101.9, Detroit Public Radio, will carry a live simulcast of WDIV Local 4's coverage of the Rosa Parks funeral service on Wednesday, November 2 beginning at 11am. The service takes place at Greater Grace Temple in Detroit and is expected to last until 2pm.

"It's vitally important that those who cannot watch the televised service are still able to participate in this tribute and farewell," said Michael Coleman, WDET General Manager. WDET simulcasts WDIV Local 4's coverage for the Rosa Parks funeral service on Wednesday, November 2 from 11am to 2pm on 101.9FM and at wdetfm.org.

In addtion to funeral coverage on Channel 4, WXYZ-TV 7 and WJBK-TV 2 also plan on carrying the event live.

FM 98 WJLB & SMART will honor Rosa Parks by offering free bus rides

FM 98 WJLB will take over the SMART BUS Michigan Ave Route #200 from 6am-6pm on Thursday, November 3, 2005. All FM 98 WJLB on air personalities will be on the bus through out the day to let people express their gratitude to Rosa Parks & what she did for the civil rights movement. “This is the least we can do” commented Director of Urban Programming, KJ Holiday “Rosa Parks changed the path of the county and with out her-FM 98 WJLB may have never been.” The Michigan Ave route heavily traveled and many young people ride this bus to go to school. FM 98 WJLB and SMART know the importance of the legacy that Parks leaves behind.
