WEYI (Channel 25) has a new news director. He's Don Shafer, who comes here from the Fox affiliate in Oklahoma City. Shafer's well-traveled, having worked as a news director for stations in Denver; San Diego; Tucson, Ariz.; Green Bay, Wis; and Tallahasee, Fla. Shafer has worked with WEYI's new general manager, Matt Kreiner, in two other markets. Kreiner's hoping he can work some magic in a market that's a tough nut to crack when you're a distant third in the local news ratings... Rusty Thomas Exits WFBE: CITADEL BROADCASTING Country WFBE(B95)/FLINT,MI has announced that due to budget constraints morning show talent RUSTY THOMAS has left the building. While with WFBE, THOMAS acted as Morning Show Producer/on-air/production/Web Master, as well as hosting a local "live" in-town comedy show. RUSTY is looking for his next opportunity. (Tue 4/18)
