Radio and Records:

What's hot in Detroit radio? Urban, Country, News, and Contemporary Hits. The 12+ numbers have Adult Urban WMXD on top, followed by a three-way tie for second between Urban WJLB, News WWJ, and Country WYCD. Next was CHR WQKI. Cooling off was Soft Rocker WNIC, which was expected as all the inflated numbers from its Christmas marathon got dropped, and not so hot were Rock WDTW-FM, Variety Hits WDRQ, and News-Talk WJR - those three stations suffered the biggest age 12+ audience erosions when compared to the Fall '05 book. Sports WDFN pushed back ahead of rival WXYT in the winter- especially in the key male demographics... Winter 2006 Detroit Ratings (Thu 4/27)

Detroit News:

The trend in the past year for oldies stations to totally go away hasn't hit Detroit -- yet. But it may be happening in a much more subtle way at WOMC-FM (104.3). Get your Mojo phone scams: Now available at mojointhemorning.com, and at all Post Bar locations starting Monday is "Mojo in the Morning Phone Scams Vol. Eight"... WOMC is not such an 'oldie' anymore (Thu 4/27)

Detroit Free Press:

Purtan's a hall of a guy: Hall of fame-ing it a second time Tuesday night in Las Vegas was WOMC-FM (104.3) morning host Dick Purtan. This time, Purtan was inducted into the National Association of Broadcasting Hall of Fame before a crowd that included his 94-year-old dad Paul ... On sale: WKQI-FM's (95.5) "Phone Scams Vol. 8" by its Mojo in the Morning crew. There's a CD-release party 6-8 p.m. Friday at the Post Bar, 22065 Michigan in Dearborn... Names and Faces (Thu 4/27)

Michigan's media world is about to get a powerful new partnership. Starting May 5, the Detroit Free Press, Michigan's most-read newspaper, and WDIV-TV, Michigan's oldest, best-known station, will share reporting resources in print, over the air and on the Internet... Free Press, Local 4 join news forces, plan Michigan polling (Thu 4/27)
