With two full days of performances by the biggest stars and brightest new faces in country music, the 2006 B-93 Birthday Bash is going to be one heck of a party. For the 14th year, radio station WBCT-FM (93.7) is putting on the free event as a way of saying thank you to its listeners. This year's expanded two-day Bash is Saturday and Sunday at the Ionia Fairgrounds and will feature sets by established stars Billy Currington and Jamie O'Neal, as well as a bevy of newcomers... When Branded hits the stage Saturday morning to open B-93's 14th annual Birthday Bash, it's a good bet the popular West Michigan country band will get the party started. There's no great mystery as to why radio station WBCT-FM (93.7) would invite the Cedar Springs-based band to kick off its two-day, free event... There's nothing like Foxfest for rock 'n' roll under an open sky. In past years, when the show was held all day on a Saturday, the midday sun could get sweltering. But for the last couple of years, Foxfest, sponsored by classic rock station 101.3 The Fox, is held on a Friday afternoon into the evening, which means the whole enchilada is cooler on several levels... West Michigan country music fans have come to know the phrase ``Passion' for Bashin''' very well. The annual B-93 Birthday Bash consistently attracts more than 50,000 fans each year (last year's event drew more than 80,000), making it one of the area's most anticipated music events. Drink plenty of water -- You can never get too much of it, especially when it's 95 degrees and you're sweating like crazy, so hydrate often. No outside beverages can be brought inside the venue, but water will be readily available. There will be beer concessions, but beer is not a substitute for good ol' H20...
