9th Annual Stoney & Wojo Radiothon raises record amount for Leukemia & Lymphoma Society
After 28 straight hours, the Stoney & Wojo Radiothon for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society brought in over $156,000 to help find a cure for blood cancers, the leading cause of cancer deaths among children.
The event was broadcast live on WDFN AM, Sports Radio 1130, and hosted by Mike Stone and Bob Wojnowski. Auction items such as a team autographed Detroit Red Wings jersey, a Detroit Lions suite, a Chauncy Billups autographed jersey and a rare Swedish national hockey team jersey, sign by the five Red Wing Swedes we all up for bids. Steve Yzerman even called in a donated an autographed pair of gloves that he wore in his last playoff game.

“This was the most successful radiothon ever,” said Charley Kutcher, Chairman of the Radiothon who also ran the tote board the entire 28-hours. “Considering the state Michigan's economy, this proves how generous people can be for a cause this good.”
