“Design Your Own” engagement ring Internet contest nets “sparkling” results

WMGCGreater Media Detroit's Soft Rock Magic 105.1 (WMGC-FM) is integrating Internet technology with radio to garner "sparkling" results for its clients. In an effort to promote Ahee Jewelers “Design Your Ring” link on the company's website (www.ahee.com), Magic 105.1 encouraged listeners to create the ultimate “Magic-Ahee” engagement ring.

Ahee Jewelers' award winning designers selected three listener submissions each week from May 24th – July 14th, 2006. A total of 24 finalists were selected over 8 weeks. More than 9,700 ring design submissions were received over the eight week program. The campaign was supported on-air with a combination of both live and recorded commercials.

The grand prize winner was announced on the air on July 21st, 2006 during Jim Harper & The Magic Morning Show on WMGC-FM. Pamela Damico of Sterling Heights received a ladies Rolex bracelet watch valued at $3,100. In addition, her ring will be designed, displayed and sold as the official Magic-Ahee Engagement ring at the retailer's location in Grosse Pointe Woods.

“I am shocked that the Ahee website did not crash with the amount of submissions that they received on a daily basis in conjunction with the program," said Marcy Cyburt, General Sales Manager of WMGC-FM. She added, “This is a great example of how the web and radio can garner great results when working in unison.”
