Whether it is a fire or flood, Wayne County's new Community Alert System will quickly notify residents of emergencies via a computer, landline, cell phone or PDA. The system is part of Wayne County's Department of Homeland Security and Emergency Management efforts to keep citizens aware of any serious threats or disasters. MIX 92.3 recognizes Breast Cancer Awareness by presenting MIX 92.3's 9th Annual Sista Strut – “I Will Survive Walk” and Rally, Saturday, September 16th, 2006 at Belle Isle Park – Remick Bandshell Area. Registration is free.
This stimulating day of honoring survivors, remembering loved ones, and raising awareness will kick off with MIX 92.3's Frankie Darcell broadcasting live from 8a-9am, at the Remick Bandshell. An inspiring rally and morning stretch routine conducted by the Boll Family Downtown YMCA will kick off the walk. In addition, MIX 92.3 will be awarding the “Biggest Team Award”, giving breast cancer prevention information and presenting post rally entertainment.
Last year's Sista Strut had nearly 1,000 participants who walked the 3k stretch in the continuous battle against breast cancer. This year the station is expecting an even greater turn out, and have expanded the route to 5k. Special guests scheduled to be in attendance include: Doctor Lisa Newman from the University of Michigan, Detroit Chief of Police – Ella M. Bully-Cummings, Chief of Staff for the Mayor's Office - Christine Beatty, among others.

For the first time, MIX92.3 will begin our Sista Strut festivities on Friday, September 15th with a “Pretty In Pink” dinner at Sweet Georgia Brown, on the corner of Brush and Monroe Street, in Greektown. This evening is dedicated to raising awareness and money towards breast cancer research. Guest will enjoy a specially priced dinner menu, which a portion of the proceeds will be donated to the research of breast cancer.
The owners of WDMK-FM filed a federal lawsuit Friday against popular former radio morning show host and Pistons announcer John Mason, alleging breach of contract by its former employee. Radio One Inc. is suing Mason in U.S. District Court over his recently announced plans to build his own nationally syndicated morning radio show that would be broadcast by stations in Detroit and Flint, among others. The lawsuit alleges Mason, who was employed by Radio One from 2001 until July 29 of this year, signed an agreement that said he would not appear on any competing stations or solicit business from any Radio One advertisers until Jan. 29, 2007...
