Detroit Free Press:

Clear Channel-owned WMXD-FM, led by syndicated morning star Steve Harvey and syndicated afternoon personality Michael Baisden, again assumed the overall Detroit radio listenership throne Tuesday in the quarterly Arbitron ratings report. Comic Harvey is posing the biggest threat ever to WRIF-FM morning kings Drew Lane and Mike Clark. Among all listeners 12 and older, Harvey scored a 9.4, up a rousing 3.1 points from the past quarter. The rough-talking Lane and Clark, scored an 8.0. In the advertiser-important age 25-54 category, Harvey moved to the No. 2 slot with a 10.8 mark, trailing only WRIF's 11.7 score -- which was down from a 13.9 the previous quarter... WMXD tops radio ratings (Wed 10/18)

It didn't take long for anchorman-turned-evangelist Frank Turner to turn up on the airwaves. Turner is sitting in this week for the ailing (with pneumonia) Bob Dutko from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. weekdays on religious radio broadcaster WMUZ-FM (103.5)... Frank Turner filling in on WMUZ (Wed 10/18)

Detroit News:

The summer Arbitron ratings were released Tuesday, and it seems that Detroit's country radio war is drawing blood; WOMC-FM (104.3) dropped the term "oldies," but also a number of listeners; Steve Harvey has jumped ahead in the overall morning rankings; and WJR-AM (760) had a hot summer. The summer book measures the local radio audience for June 29-Sept. 20. WYCD-FM (99.5), for years Detroit's only country station, took a major hit from upstart country station the Fox, WDTW-FM (106.7), going from a tie for No. 1 down to No. 10 in listeners age 12 and older. In listeners 25-54, WYCD didn't fare much better, going from a No. 3 rank down to 10... WYCD takes a hit; Steve Harvey rules mornings (Wed 10/18)
