Mid-Michigan Radio Group Smooth Jazz outlet WJZL-FM signed off its longtime FM frequency of 92.7 at about 5:11 this afternoon and has started operations at FM 92.9 from downtown Lansing at reduced power. WJZL plans on completing construction of its new facilities, which will broadcast with 4,600 watts @ 374 feet from a broadcast tower in central Lansing, by the end of November. The station's community of license is also changing from Charlotte to Grand Ledge.
WJZL's former facilities, which were located southwest of Lansing proper, output 1,500 watts @ 466 feet. Once completed, the new broadcast power and location will give much better coverage to the population center of the Lansing area.
