'Hot Trips Cold Cash' At WHTS: CITADEL Top 40 WHTS (105.3 HOTFM)/GRAND RAPIDS is conducting the "HOT TRIPS COLD CASH" contest, in which every day a listener wins a trip to JAMAICA, CANCUN, or PUERTO VALLARTA or up to $1,000 in cash. The station sent 86,000 area homes a calendar (also available at www.1053hotfm.com) that lists a different song on each day, and when the listed song plays on the appropriate day, the 15th caller wins. WZZM-TV/GRAND RAPIDS is also in on the action -- it reveals the next day's song, and the hour in which it will be played, during its 11p newscast. (Tue 10/3)
The second of three televised debates between Gov. Jennifer Granholm and Dick DeVos will be broadcast at 8 p.m. Tuesday from the studios of WOOD-TV (Channel 8). The debate will air live and commercial-free and will stream live online at woodtv.com. It will be simulcast on four other NBC-affiliated stations in Michigan: WDIV in Detroit, WEYI in Flint, WPBN in Traverse City and WLUC in Marquette... Debate comes to WOOD-TV (Sun 10/8)
Many fans of Blue Lake Public Radio WBLV-FM (90.3) have been tuning into dead air recently. The station's main transmitting antenna was rendered unusable by a lightning strike, and the station is operating on reduced power with a standby antenna. The damaged antenna has been shipped to the manufacturer in California, where it will be rebuilt.
