An Oakland County country radio host leaves for Iraq today, for a special 10-day visit starting on Veterans Day to deliver the World's Largest Yellow Ribbon, signed by area listeners, for soldiers from the Detroit area. Steve Grunwald, co-host and producer of the "All New Dr. Don Morning Show" on WYCD-FM (99.5), will travel with the Department of Defense. He plans to visit as many Michigan soldiers as possible... Detroit fans can get wrestlemania tix early

WRIFRock WRIF-FM 101.1 is giving Detroit wrestling fans the chance to buy tickets to Wrestlemania 23 before they go on sale to the rest of the world. Beginning today, November 11th at 8am, Detroiters will have the opportunity to buy tickets to Wrestlemania 23 only at Ford Field for two hours before they go on sale to the general public at 10am. WRIF's night DJ, “Meltdown”, will broadcast live from Ford Field to encourage listeners to take advantage of this great opportunity.

In addition to the pre-sale, wrestling fans will have the chance to win ringside seats by dressing up like their favorite wrestler. WrestleMania 23 will be live at Detroit's Ford Field on Sunday, April 1, 2007—tickets officially go on sale to the public on Saturday, Nov. 11 at 10 a.m.!

The return to Detroit will mark the 20th anniversary of WrestleMania III at the Pontiac Silverdome. The event attracted 93,173 fans who saw Hulk Hogan body slam and defeat the late Andre' The Giant in an epic battle. That attendance figure is reputed to be the world indoor attendance record for any sports or entertainment event.

WWE®'s goal is to have WrestleMania 23 establish a new attendance record for Ford Field, the home of the Detroit Lions and Super Bowl XL.



Magic 105.1 to host wine tasting event

WMGCSoft Rock WMGC-FM will hold “The Magic Wine Down” Event from 6-9pm on Friday, November 17th, 2006 at the Marble & Granite Gallery on Telegraph Rd. (between 8 and 9 Mile Roads) in Southfield. The event will be complete with hors d'oeuvres from Forte Restaurant and of course, wine. Approximately 10 wines will be showcased and experts will be on-hand to educate attendees about the specific types featured at the event. Diane Dunn, harpist, will provide music for attendees. Additionally, there will be a silent auction with proceeds benefiting Toys For Tots. Several auction items include: Extreme Tickle Me Elmo, sterling silver necklace from Ahee Jewelers and gift certificates for Centurion Home Services.

The event will be hosted by many Magic personalities: Linda Lanci, Mike Bradley, Fay Samona, Mitzi Miles, Jim Paolucci, Shannyn Caldwell and Johnny Williams.

The only way in is to win by listening to WMGC as tickets will not be available for sale.



Zonjic to perform in flutes, friends, and Fa-la-la benefit Nov. 16

Jazz flutist and Smooth Jazz WVMV-FM 98.7 morning host Alexander Zonjic will perform in a benefit to aid the special children and adults of FAR on Thursday, Nov. 16, 7:30 p.m. at the Seligman Performing Arts Center, Detroit Country Day School in Beverly Hills, Michigan.

Fun Arts Recreation (FAR) provides creative arts therapy and recreation services for children and adults with mental, physical and/or emotional impairments.

Joining Zonjic will be Detroit's ”first lady of blues” Thornetta Davis and folk singer Josh White, Jr. and the special children of FAR for the 6th Annual event of music, song and dance to benefit Variety FAR Conservatory of Therapeutic and Performing Arts.

A patron dinner, FAR Bazaar and afterglow are also a part of the festivities. Tickets for reserved seating ranges from $25 to $500. Students and children under 18 are admitted free. For more information contact the FAR office at (248) 646-3347.
