Maxwell gone from WNIC: WNIC-FM (100.3) may be the Christmas station, but it won't seem that way to the station's longtime midday host, Gene Maxwell. After more than 30 years at the station, Maxwell was reportedly let go Tuesday, according to station insiders. The shifts of Theresa Lucas and Kevin O'Neill will be lengthened to cover his former noon-3 p.m. slot... Names and Faces (Wed 11/8)


Political news -- which for most of the year local TV news treats with the disdain usually reserved for a freeloading relative -- had its evening in the spotlight Tuesday. All three local TV news operations devoted almost all their resources to covering Michigan's Election Day. In the biggest TV coverage development, WDIV-TV Local 4 and WXYZ-TV (Channel 7) offered extensive political video and audio coverage most of the day on their Web sites, serving to sate the viewing appetite of even the most politically starved viewer... Detroit News:

OK, we could blame ESPN and its family of channels (ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNU, ESPN360, ESPN Classic) for forcing Michigan and Michigan State fans to miss their teams' games last weekend. But that might not be the case when it comes to Friday's Western Michigan-Central Michigan game. That's a complicated issue. ESPN and Mid-American Conference officials agreed Tuesday that ESPN Classic was a possible broadcast option for Friday's game. But that plan fell through because of other network commitments... WMU-CMU telecast doesn't fit on ESPN (Wed 11/8)
