It looks as if former City Council President Johnnie Coleman might have to pay for his war of words with former local radio show host Dave Barber. The state Court of Appeals has ruled Coleman did not respond in time to a defamation lawsuit filed by Barber in November 2004 - an oversight that essentially causes the court to skip the trial and consider Barber the victor by default. The case now heads back to Genesee Circuit Court; Barber's attorney said all that's left to decide is how much Barber deserves in damages... Silence is golden, for Barber (Wed, 1/10)
