A pioneer of garage rock lost more than four decades' worth of memorabilia from his colorful career this week when his house was destroyed by fire. Question Mark - who scored a No. 1 hit in 1966 with "96 Tears" - lost everything from recordings to stage outfits. "I lost everything. All my tapes, pictures. I'm going through the rubble right now," he said by phone Friday. But the worst was the loss of his four Yorkies. "They're gone," said the singer, his voice breaking... A Michigan rock and roll legend is sifting through the remains of his Vienna Township home this weekend after a fire destroyed more than 40 years of music history.
For four decades now, he's gone by the name Question Mark and was the frontman for the band Question Mark and the Mysterians. The group is best known for their song "96 Tears", a garage rock classic recorded in 1966 that reached #1 on the Billboard Hot 100. When his Clio area home went up in flames this week, most of the mementos went up with the house -- including the gold record for "96 Tears"...
