“We couldn’t be more excited to have Clint Black, a true superstar and humanitarian to help us launch this year’s Radiothon”, said WYCD program director Tim Roberts.
Also joining the fundraising efforts will be Hot Young Country Star Eric Church who is appearing Thursday afternoon at 5pm prior to his free Winterblast concert Friday evening at the GM Renaissance Center Wintergarden.
Among this year’s other highlights, Marine City St. Jude patient Jessica will share her experience with radiothon listeners. Jessica was treated at St. Jude for retinoblastoma and has gone on to support many St. Jude events in our area. Jessica is just one of the tens of thousands of children who have benefited from the cutting-edge research and treatment at St. Jude since its opening in 1962. Local listeners interested in helping Jessica and other children like her can pledge a donation by calling (800) 832-9393 during the event or by visiting www.wycd.com.
The Country Cares for St. Jude Kids program began in 1989, after Randy Owen, lead singer of the music group Alabama, met St. Jude founder Danny Thomas and teamed with Country Radio and WYCD. Since its inception, Country Cares has grown to be one of the most successful radio fund-raising events in the nation with more than 200 radio station partners raising more than $280 million in pledges.
