The Michigan Association of Broadcasters Foundation (MABF) has launched the first of four charitable online auctions planned for 2007. The online auctions will be used to raise funds for MABF programs, which support scholarships, internships and education programs for students and young professionals interested in the broadcasting industry.
“The MAB Foundation online auction is an exciting new concept that allows the general public to get involved in a fun way, and help support the efforts of young people seeking a career in the broadcasting industry,” said MABF Board Chair Bill Keith of WSDP-FM/Plymouth/Canton Schools.
Bidding in the first online auction will begin at 12:00 a.m. on Thursday, February 15 and conclude at 11:59 p.m. Thursday, March 15.
First round online auction items include:
• Detroit Tigers Getaway Package: Two VIP tickets behind home plate and an overnight stay at the Detroit Marriott at the Renaissance Center
• The Grand Hotel Golf Outing: Golf for four at the Grand Hotel’s beautiful Jewel Golf Course located on Mackinac Island

MABF is also soliciting donations of items for bid at future online auctions planned to begin on May 15, August 15, and November 14.
“We would like to offer as many exciting bid items as possible,” said Keith. “Those could include sports tickets, resort/vacation packages, golf/ski packages, autographed memorabilia, or lunch with a celebrity.”
