WDFN adds Tigers' Verlander for baseball season analysis

Sports WDFN AM 1130 has announced the signing of Detroit Tigers starting pitcher Justin Verlander who will provide exclusive weekly in-season call-ins and in-depth analysis during the Stoney and Wojo Show, heard weekdays from 3pm to 6pm. The partnership promises to deliver inside information from the player’s perspective as well as providing an outlet for Detroit fans to talk to one of their favorite athletes.

Justin Verlander begins his second full-season in 2007 as a major cog in the Tigers' starting rotation and looks to continue the success of his 2006 campaign which saw him win the American League Rookie of the Year award. After earning a spot in the Tigers' rotation in spring training last March, Verlander went 17-9 with a 3.63 earned run average and helped lead the Tigers to the playoffs for the first time in nearly two decades. He started four games in the postseason, including two in the World Series.

The deal announced Monday would consolidate the only two players in the emerging business of subscription satellite radio, and is sure to face tough scrutiny from federal regulators. Investors and analysts have been speculating about a deal for months. The companies billed the deal as a merger of equals, with shareholders of both companies owning approximately 50 percent of the combined company. However, Sirius will be giving $4.57 billion of its stock to XM shareholders, a substantial premium to the value of their shares... XM, Sirius join forces join forces (Tue, 2/20)
