Jerome Vaughn Returns To WDET

WDETDetroit Public Radio, WDET-FM 101.9 has announced that Jerome Vaughn has been named News Program Director and will begin his duties on March 5, 2007. Jerome Vaughn worked at WDET for 14 years prior to becoming News Director at Michigan Radio in September 2006. His return
to the WDET newsroom will contribute greatly to the station's ongoing commitment of providing a premier public radio service for metropolitan Detroit.

Jerome Vaughn has been honored with countless awards for his work from the Michigan Associated Press, the Michigan Association of Broadcasters and Society of Professional Journalists. He also has served as a mentor/trainer for National Public Radio's Next Generation Radio Project and developed and managed a nationally recognized internship program in
the WDET newsroom.

Vaughn replaces Joan Silvi who exited WDET late last year.

Detroit Free Press:

Talkers magazine has released its annual list of the Heavy Hundred -- its highly subjective annual view of the top 100 talk radio hosts in the United States, plus a list of 150 others it deems notable. Some highlights: WJR-AM (760) daily syndicated personalities Rush Limbaugh (1), Sean Hannity (2), Dr. Laura Schlessinger (4) and Mark Levin (20) were all in the top 20. Also listed were three WJR local show hosts: Free Press columnist Mitch Albom (59), Paul W. Smith and Glenn Haege. (Smith and Haege were listed in the alphabetical/by category section for those from 101-250). Other locals listed in the top 250 were WKRK-FM's (97.1) afternoon drive team of Deminski & Doyle and, in a most curious pick, the recently united team of Doug Karsch and Scott Anderson at WXYT-AM (1270)... Rush and Hannity are tops in talk (Wed, 2/21)

Sirius Satellite Radio and XM Satellite Radio hope to merge, but the channels that subscribers get probably won't broaden immediately. Company executives spelled out more details about the proposed merger between the two satellite radio companies in a news conference Tuesday. Here's what you need to know as a current (or future) customer... CEO tells how Sirius-XM merger would work (Wed, 2/21)
