When “Ernie Harwell's Audio Scrapbook” was unveiled in December, sales skyrocketed like a home run at Michigan and Trumbull. The four-hour, four-CD compilation of interviews and broadcast snippets from the former Detroit Tigers broadcaster's 55-year career quickly sold 20,000 copies. Then the trouble began. Reports began to filter in to Gary Spicer, Harwell's St. Clair Shores-based attorney and adviser of 31 years, that copies of the CD were being sold illegally online, and counterfeit copies were turning up, too... Expanded: By Comcast, its Hispanic programming lineup in southeast Michigan with the addition of WUDT Univision. WUDT is the Detroit affiliate of the Univision Network, the most watched Spanish-language broadcast television network in the United States. WRIF begins search for 2007 Rock Girl

Rock WRIF-FM 101.1 has announced its $40,000 “WRIF Rock Girl Search”, where one woman will have the opportunity to represent WRIF for one year as a station personality and spokesperson. In addition to being the WRIF ambassador at VIP parties, concerts and events, she’ll also receive a $40,000 salary, a Riff ad in Stuff Magazine and she’ll star in a WRIF billboard campaign this summer.

Through an extensive radio and print campaign, WRIF will encourage the women of Detroit to attend one of 3 remaining casting calls. There, they will be asked a series of questions and they’ll be asked to read a traffic report to determine whether they will make the cut into the 2007 “WRIF Rock Girl” semifinals.

Once the 32 semi-finalists are selected, WRIF listeners will be encouraged to vote in a series of 3 rounds for their favorite contestant online at www.wrif.com.

Following are the dates, times and locations of the casting calls:

Wednesday, March 28th at Lucky Strike inside Fountain Walk in Novi, 5p-9p
Wednesday, April 4th at The Venue in Dearborn, 7p-11p
Friday, April 6th at Malarky’s in Southgate, 3p-7p

Contestants must bring a photo and a bio / resume. Potential candidates must attend a casting call to be considered.

The contest is open to Michigan residents 21 years of age and older. For official contest rules, log on to www.wrif.com.
