Max FM Grand Rapids refocuses

WMAX-FM 96.1 Grand Rapids has returned to a Hot Adult Contemporary format after about 17 months with an attempt at Variety Hits 'We Play It All'. Prior to the October 2005 shift, 96.1 had an Hot AC format as "I-96" since 1999.

"The New Max 96.1" features artists such as Chris Daughtry, Sheryl Crow, the Pussycat Dolls, The Fray, and Mat Kearney.

Radio & Records:

Clear Channel adult hits WMAX (96.1 Max-FM)/Grand Rapids PD Jack Lawson lets go of the reins to concentrate on programming his other baby, classic rock WBFX (101.3 the Fox), and WOOD PD Tim Kiesling extends his broadcast day to now include programming Max. Kiesling also introduces air talent to Max, putting local boys Todd Michaels, Hollywood and Doug On Demand on-air, as well as Tony Travatto, PD of CC sister KXXM/San Antonio. (Wed, 3/21)


Justice Gets WOOD For Weekends:
CLEAR CHANNEL Talk WOOD-A/GRAND RAPIDS fill-in host JUSTICE adds weekend duties with "THE SHOW WITH JUSTICE," SATURDAY afternoons. JUSTICE, the former WKLQ /GRAND RAPIDS, WKLS (96 ROCK) and WMAX (REAL RADIO)/ATLANTA and KCXX (X103.9)/SAN BERNARDINO personality, is still on the lookout for his next fulltime gig; check him out at fmjustice.typepad.com.
