Detroit News:

The May 2007 Sweeps book has closed with WXYZ-TV (Channel 7) walking away with several key victories, namely for its 6 and 11 p.m. newscasts. While WXYZ has maintained the No. 1 newscast at 5 p.m. for nearly 30 sweeps periods (thanks in large part to a formidable "Oprah" lead-in), the 6 p.m. newscast is new territory for the local ABC affiliate. This time around, WXYZ pulled an 8 rating in households, compared to WDIV-TV (Channel 4) with a 7.4 rating... WXYZ-TV is tops in evening news (Fri, 5/25)

Toledo Blade:

Andy Evans has been the baseball equivalent of a solid utilityman the last four years at WLQR-AM, 1470. He has crammed a lot of duties into his part-time job. Evans has hosted a two-hour sports show on Sunday mornings called "The Sports Trenches," done morning and mid-day sports updates and some production work, and served as the top fill-in for afternoon sports talk show host Norm Wamer on "The Front Row." Evans also had been the radio voice of the Bowling Green State University hockey team on the campus radio station, WBGU-FM, 88.1. All of the long hours and hard work have finally paid off for Evans, a 27-year-old graduate of Eastwood High School and BGSU. He has landed a full-time position as afternoon sports anchor at another Cumulus Media station - WTKA-AM, 1050, in Ann Arbor. He starts June 4... WLQR's Evans earns sports talk job in Ann Arbor (Fri, 5/25)
