Scott Walker Named PD At WOMC
ALL ACCESS has learned that SCOTT WALKER has been named the new PD at CBS Oldies WOMC/DETROIT. This marks the return of SCOTT to CBS, as he programmed Oldies WOGL/PHILADELPHIA for 20 years from 1981-2001. Most recently he was PD for COX Classic Hits WJGL (THE NEW 96-9 THE EAGLE)/JACKSONVILLE. Longtime WWJ-AM (950) producer Pat Batcheller will jump to Detroit Public Radio WDET-FM (101.9) on June 18 to take the job of afternoon host for "All Things Considered," 4-7 p.m. daily. WDET news director Jerome Vaughn has been hosting "All Things Considered" most recently, but according to WDET public relations and promotions director Kevin Piotrowski, Vaughn's workload as news director has made it difficult for him to also pull the afternoon shift.Pat Batcheller to move from WWJ to WDET (Thu, 5/31)
The daily public affairs program "Detroit Today" on WDET-FM 101.9, Detroit Public Radio, is broadcasting live from 2007 Detroit Regional Chamber Mackinac Policy Conference taking place on Mackinac Island this week. Feature reports, discussions and interviews with Michigan political and business leaders will be featured as WDET's Quinn Klinefelter hosts "Detroit Today" this week. The show airs from 10am to noon.
News/Talk 760 WJR will bring its listeners live coverage from the conference. The three days of meetings, discussions and speeches traditionally result in a number of breaking news stories.
Hosts Paul W. Smith (5:30am-9am) and Frank Beckmann (9am-11:30am) will feature a long list of guests on their broadcasts today, May 31st, and Friday, June 1st from Grand Hotel on Mackinac Island.
Smith will also host a live program featuring the "Big Five"on Friday afternoon, a special time from 3 to 5 pm. Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick, Oakland County Executive L. Brooks Patterson, Wayne County Executive Robert Ficano, Macomb County Commission Chair Nancy White and Windsor, Ontario Mayor Eddie Francis will participate in this lively, topical, roundtable discussion, surrounding significant issues facing the area.
