FSN teams with Tigers for special July 4th telecast

On Wednesday, July 4, the Detroit Tigers host the Cleveland Indians in a game televised by FSN Detroit. The Independence Day telecast is billed as the second annual FSN / Tigers Fourth of July Celebration, filled with many special features and presented with limited commercials thanks to the sponsorship of Marathon Oil.

Live coverage begins at 6:30 PM with Tigesr Live Pregame, followed by the Tigers-Indians at 7:00 PM. Tigers Live following the game will include the patriotic fireworks display at Comerica Park.

During select between-inning breaks, FSN is providing a series of vignettes featuring players and young fans talking about what Independence Day means to them and the freedoms Americans enjoy. Also to be included in the telecast are mini-documentaries about the significance of July 4th in America’s history and culture, narrated by Hall of Fame broadcaster Ernie Harwell.

“Baseball and the Fourth of July are emblematic of summertime in our country,” said Greg Hammaren, Senior Vice President/General Manager, FSN Detroit. “We are proud to partner with the Tigers and Marathon to provide fans this celebration of our national pastime.”

The game is also being shown on Armed Forces Television, available to U.S. military
personnel serving outside the continental United States.
