WXYZ-TV, Channel 7, will broadcast a live one-hour kick-off salute of the Detroit International Riverdays on Friday, June 22, from 7 - 8 p.m. The special, "Summer In The D: A Riverfront Celebration", will give viewers a front row seat to the grand opening of Detroit's Riverwalk and showcase the newly completed sections of the Detroit International Riverfront.
With a studio located on the riverfront in Seldom Blues restaurant, news anchors Stephen Clark and Carolyn Clifford will co-host the live broadcast with contributions from reporters Mary Conway, Alicia Smith, and Dennis Neubacher.
In addition to the festival reporting and interviews with key event and city dignitaries, "Summer In The D: A Riverfront Celebration" will also include exclusive television coverage of the Detroit Symphony Orchestra's live, free concert that will be taking place adjacent to the "new" Riverwalk during the broadcast.

Soft Rock WMGC-FM, Magic 105.1, is raising money for the nation’s largest Breast Cancer 3-Day team. The “3 Days of Magic” team will be led by Fay Samona, producer for Jim Harper & the Magic Morning Show, and four-time walker Sandra Bourdeau during the Michigan event which will run from September 28th through 30th. WMGC’s team of over 200 registered individuals has set a $205,000 team fundraising goal with over $175,000 having already been raised at press time.
The Magic team is walking in honor of radio personality Mike Bradley’s mom, Genevieve Sibel. Mrs. Sibel passed away on Feb. 9, 2007 after a one-year battle with breast cancer. Bradley is a member of the Magic Morning Show.
“I am so proud to be participating in the Breast Cancer 3-Day this year, along with 205 of my fellow Magic walkers. I am honored to walk in the memory of Genevieve Sibel, Mike Bradley’s mom, who suffered from breast cancer until her passing in February 2007. I know these 3 days will be a mixture of tears, laughter, blisters and challenges, but I know it will truly be 3 days of magic!”
Local establishments will be hosting fundraisers to help the “3 Days of Magic” team reach their $2,200 per person goal. On June 30, the Outback Steakhouse in Chesterfield Township will be holding a pancake breakfast fundraiser from 8:30 to 11 AM. Also on June 30, Rocky’s Baker Streetcar Bar in Hamtramck is hosting an all-you-can-eat spaghetti event from 4 to 8 PM.
