Cumulus/Ann Arbor, Michigan Footballers Raise Funds
CUMULUS' ANN ARBOR stations -- Sports WTKA-A, Country WWWW (W4 COUNTRY), AAA WQKL (ANN ARBOR'S 107ONE), and Talk WLBY-A -- turned over 7a to 7p JUNE 7 to the UNIVERSITY OF MICHIGAN football team for its annual radiothon to raise over $117,000 for the UNIVERSITY OF MICHIGAN's C.S. MOTT CHILDREN'S HOSPITAL and WOMEN'S HOSPITAL. The radiothon got an extra boost when BILL SIMONSON's GRAND RAPIDS-based statewide syndicated "HUGE SHOW" sports afternoon show joined the radiothon. WTKA, W4, and 107ONE also broadcast live from SATURDAY's CARR'S WASH FOR KIDS event held by U-M coach LLOYD CARR. (Mon, 6/11)


Jay Hudson Named MD At 89X
CHUM LTD. Alternative CIMX (89X)/WINDSOR-DETROIT names JAY HUDSON MD. HUDSON has been Acting MD since joining 89X for nights in late DECEMBER. Prior to joining 89X, HUDSON was juggling parttime duties at crosstown GREATER MEDIA Active Rock WRIF and CITADEL Rocker WKQZ (Z93)/SAGINAW, MI. 89X PD VINCE CANNOVA said, "JAY has taken on this role since starting at 89X. His attention to details, communication skills, music knowledge, understanding of the demo, and drive and passion for radio all make him the perfect fit for 89X." HUDSON told ALL ACCESS, "It feels great to be in this position as music director and on-air at a station I grew up listening to and admiring. I look forward to taking 89X up to the top.
