Mid-Michigan: Newsmakers Aug 1 - 7, 2007

Lansing State Journal:

Tony Conley, a familiar voice in local sports radio, has lost his jobs at WVFN (730-AM). "They told me they were eliminating my position and it was a cost-cutting measure," Conley said. Brent Alberts, regional operations manager for Citadel Broadcasting, agreed. "It was just a job consolidation, eliminating one position," he said. Tim Nester becomes operations manager for both of Citadel's AM stations. WJIM (1240) does news and talk; WVFN does sports. "I think we'll crank up the attitude a little bit," Nester said. "I think it will be more rock 'n' roll, without going over the top." Conley had been WVFN's program director and promotions director and an ad salesman. Some of those jobs will be absorbed by Nester... WVFN program director loses job in 'consolidation' of positions (Fri, 8/3)
