WRIF wins HD award; nominated for four R&R awards
Rock WRIF-FM 101.1 HD secondary channel Riff2 has been named as co-winner of the National Association of Broadcasters first HD Radio Multicast Awards along with a station in Denver. The stations will be honored at the NAB Radio Show, held September 26-28 in Charlotte, NC. The awards were designed to recognize innovative HD multicast programming.
In addition, the station has been nominated for four 2007 R&R (Radio & Records) awards:
- Active Rock Personality / Show of the year, Drew & Mike
- Active Rock Station of the Year, Markets 1-25
- Active Rock Program Director / OM of the year, Doug Podell
- Active Rock Music Director of the year, Mark Pennington
The R&R awards will be announced at the publication’s annual convention, which will take place this year in Charlotte, North Carolina at the end of September.

Two local stations are duking it out in cyberspace for your eyeballs with the help of Webcasts and other special features. In one corner is WDIV-TV (Channel 4) with clickondetroit.com and WJBK-TV (Channel 2) and its myfoxdetroit .com in the other. WDIV streams its noon and 4 p.m. weekday newscasts live on its Web site, giving viewers access all over the world ... Don't underestimate WJBK. "Fox 2 News Morning" is live online from 7-9 a.m. and there are bigger plans in the works. On Sept. 24, when WJBK's much talked about 11 p.m. weekday newscast debuts, the station will begin streaming all of its newscasts live... Two stations fight it out on Internet (Fri, 9/14)
