Detroit Free Press:

This is my one attempt to help you through the Detroit media. All these people who sit there and cast opinions and try to shape your sports mind in our fair city. Most times, you can't make hide nor hair of who knows what, who knows who, who has got a hot tip, or who is just filling space. As fans, you are at a tremendous disadvantage. You don't have a choice. You want to know what is going on with the Pistons, Lions, Red Wings and Tigers. So who do we look to? We look to our papers... Todd Jones: Explaining the ins, outs of Detroit media (Sun, 9/2)

There were so many reasons Jim Brandstatter looked forward to Saturday. And one reason he did not. When Brandstatter arrived at Michigan Stadium on Saturday to do analysis on the radio broadcast, he went up to the broadcast and private box level and walked into late Michigan coach Bo Schembechler's booth. Schembechler died last Nov. 17 at age 77. "It feels empty," said Brandstatter, who played for Schembechler in the early 1970s and was one of his closest friends in the years since. "There's something missing. I went in there to have a talk with him, alone. I said 'hello' and I know he was here"... Brandstatter soldiers on without Bo at Big House (Sun, 9/2)

He's back. Media barrister Henry Baskin, agent to the likes of Dick Purtan, Fanchon Stinger, Jerry Hodak and other media luminaries, returns to the airwaves at 5:30 p.m. Friday with his "Due Process" show on a new station, WTVS-TV, Channel 56... Baskin finds a home at Channel 56 (Sun, 9/2)
