Lansing's WJZL 92.9 powers up
At 1:45 p.m. today, WJZL FM, Smooth Jazz 92.9, completed its upgrades and began broadcasting at its new location with full power, 5,400 watts @ 344 feet. Installation of the station's new tower/pipe was completed on Sunday, November 11th via helicopter, but tower crews still required the station to broadcast at low power while they moved other antennas back onto the new tower, finished sealing the roof, touched up the paint, installed the new LED beacon and side lights, and performed other finishing touches.
The Mid-Michigan Radio Group (Rubber City Radio Group) station will now be licensed to Grand Ledge, completing its move-in to Lansing from Charlotte. The station changed frequency from 92.7 to 92.9 in October 2006 and also began broadcasting at low power from its new location in downtown Lansing at that time while the final steps to complete the upgrade were being completed.
