flyin highWJZL making progress on power increase

There was some big activity in downtown Lansing yesterday as a helicopter hovered over the Boji Tower removing the old pipe and tower that wasn't strong enough to support the new antenna for Smooth Jazz WJZL-FM 92.9. After some restoration work is completed on the roof, the helicopter will return to haul up the new tower/pipe setup that will be able to accommodate the station's new equipment. Once all the work is completed, the changes will greatly increase the station's coverage area around Lansing.



Saginaw News:

By this afternoon, Johnny Burke promises, he and his bosses at Citadel Broadcasting will have the official word about the brouhaha that's kept him off the air since Thursday. Until then, as fans of the popular morning disc jockey at WHNN-FM, 96.1, found out this morning -- Burke's anticipated return -- he will remain off the air with pay. ''We're going to have the long-awaited press release by mid-afternoon, or the end of the business day at the latest,'' said Burke, who will join corporate managers to make a joint statement. Burke and the station Friday said he would return today... Burke: I'm on air Tuesday (Mon, 11/5)
