Television: April 2007 Archives

FSN Detroit has added the Tigers-Toronto Blue Jays game on Thursday, April 12 to its schedule
of telecasts on FSN PLUS. The Red Wings-Calgary NHL playoff opener that night will air on FSN Detroit. FSN Detroit is offering FSN PLUS this spring on nights when the network has dual events scheduled for the same particular time period. On dates with simultaneous games, FSN Detroit will carry either the Red Wings or Pistons game, while the Tigers will be on FSN PLUS. Most cable and satellite providers will open up an alternate channel to accommodate the FSN PLUS telecast.

Michigan Television, the public television service from the University of Michigan, has been added to the channel line-up for Charter Cable in the Midland and Bay City markets, effective Saturday, April 21. The station will air on channel 16.

This addition brings Michigan Television to an additional 25,000 households that subscribe to Charter Cable, the primary cable provider in the Midland and Bay City areas. Michigan Television is also carried on Comcast Cable, Bright House Networks, and WOW Cable systems throughout Southeast Michigan.

“Michigan Television is committed to providing programs that educate and enlighten as they entertain,” said Station Manager Jennifer White. “We’re happy we have the opportunity to bring our station to a whole new audience in the Midland and Bay City areas.”

Michigan Television is a member of PBS, and acquires programs from other sources as well. The station also produces award-winning local programs and documentaries, which have recently received five Broadcast Excellence Awards from the Michigan Association of Broadcasters. The upcoming Detroit Red Wings / San Jose Sharks second round National Hockey League playoff series will be carried by national networks Versus and NBC, with FSN Detroit limited to coverage of games 3, and if necessary 6 and 7. Games 2 and 5 will be featured on NBC with Versus claiming exclusive coverage of games 1 and 4, shutting FSN Detroit out of the picture. With Canadian broadcaster CBC not scheduled to carry any of the Western Conference series between the Wings and Sharks, fans without Versus on their cable or satellite system will likely be searching for an alternative place to catch games one and four.

FSN Detroit has announced that the Tigers-Orioles baseball game on Monday, April 30th will move to FSN Plus to clear FSN for that night's Wings/Sharks game three in San Jose.
