CBS Radio's Murphy to transfer out of Detroit market
Kevin Murphy, CBS Radio Detroit market manager and senior vice president, is leaving the market and being re-assigned to the CBS' cluster in Riverside/San Bernardino/Ontario, CA. His new assignment begins March 3.
Murphy also acted as general manager for sports WXYT-FM/AM and oldies WOMC-FM and arrived in Detroit in June 2005 when he was named as GM for WOMC. He was viewed by some as a polarizing figure due to numerous personnel cuts that were made under his watch, both at WOMC and what was then talk WKRK-FM 97.1 (now WXYT-FM).
WMUZ celebrating fifty years of Christian radio, to shift lineup
As WMUZ-FM celebrates its fiftieth year of Christian Broadcasting in Detroit, there is also a celebration of new and exciting programming. Beginning March 4, 2008, Robin Sullivan’s Praise Company will relaunch to feature three hours of a mix of Christian music laced with Godly encouragement.
The revamped show will feature Contemporary Christian hits from the 80’s, 90’s and now, along with some spice from the Gospel, Contemporary Christian Country and Inspirational Christian arena. Sullivan will also serve as promotions manager for Crawford Broadcasting Detroit stations WMUZ, WEXL and WRDT.
"I live for this," Sullivan noted. “Give me a song to play, a listener to hear, and the Word to speak – I’m there!” Robin has been hosting afternoon drive for nearly 25 years at WMUZ.
Additionally, the station will add author, speaker and radio talk show host Dave Ramsey to the line up from 7:00 pm until 9:00 pm weeknights following the Praise Company. Ramsey offers life-changing financial advice as host of the nationally syndicated radio program, “The Dave Ramsey Show,” which is broadcast on 350 radio stations throughout the United States to over 3 million listeners each week. The show focuses on life, love, and relationships, and how they happen to revolve around money. Dave says, "It's where life happens...caller after caller."
