"For the Love of WDET" fundraiser - Feb. 6-9

Detroit Public Radio can help listeners with their Valentine's Day flowers when they take part in the station's upcoming "For the Love of WDET" fundraiser starting on Wednesday, February 6. Listeners can celebrate their relationship with WDET and share the reasons why the love Detroit Public Radio when they make a pledge of support.

Everyone who makes a gift of $150 or more can choose to have a dozen roses sent to their special someone on Valentine's Day, February 14. Other special thank-you gifts include Sanders candy - a Detroit tradition since 1875 and a romantic evening's stay at the historic Inn on Ferry Street in the heart of Detroit's cultural center.

"For The Love of WDET" begins on Wednesday, February 6 and runs through Saturday, February 9. Listeners can make their pledges of support by calling 1-800-959-9338 or give on the station's secure website: www.wdet.org.

See the “Queen of Soul” in New York City with AM 580

The Motor City’s own Aretha Franklin, the “Queen of Soul”, is performing at the legendary Radio City Music Hall, and Oldies CKWW AM 580 is sending one lucky winner and a guest to be in the audience. On Tuesday, Judy presents birthday tributes to bluesman/ producer, Al Kooper (2/5/44), and reggae icon Bob Marley (2/6/45) on The Judy Adams Program, heard at 9am on CJAM-FM 91.5 and at cjam.ca.

-- This week's edition of WDET's "The Evolution of Jazz" with host Ed Love airs on Sunday, February 3 at 8PM and is titled, "Live Recordings From the 1950's".
