WDFN billboard campaign generates buzz

Sports WDFN AM 1130 newest Detroit area billboard campaign carries a plain and simple message, “If The Text Don’t Fit, You Must Acquit.” With the entire city focused on the continuing legal ups and downs of Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick, WDFN’s message is simply a reflection of the current situation with the mayor. The slogan was created by WDFN listeners who participated in a WDFN.com website promotion where people could send the radio station their personal text messages for Kwame. The slogan is a play on the O.J. Simpson trial, with the now famous Johnnie Cochrane quote, “If it doesn’t fit, you must acquit.” The billboard really does leave the question of Kwame’s guilt or innocence up to the evidence although most people seemed to have made their own conclusions based on the text messages printed in the Detroit Free Press and other legal documents that have been released to the public.

The billboards are located in the following locations:
• On I-75 Northbound, 1.5 miles North of I-94
• On the Lodge (M-10) Northbound, South of Greenfield Rd.
• On I-94 Westbound, East of Middlebelt Rd.
• On the Southfield Freeway (M-39), North of Joy Rd.

The billboard can also be seen on WDFN.com, keyword Kwame.

The billboards also drew the attention of Fox 2 which this morning featured a story on the new displays and interviewed program director Rona Danzinger and afternoon co-host Bob Wojnowski.
