Detroit Free Press:
Radio station WRIF-FM (101.1) is expected to announce -- perhaps as early as this afternoon -- that Drew Lane, the station's highly rated morning show co-host, has ended his 16-year-plus run at the station. His departure brings an end to his long and highly successful partnership with Mike Clark, who apparently will remain on the morning show he has co-hosted with producers Marc Fellhauer and Mike Wolters and news person Trudi Daniels. Lane last appeared on "The Drew and Mike Show" on Sept. 17. He announced a week later that he was taking time off to care for his fiancee, Tess Schuster, who was undergoing treatment for breast cancer. The station had insisted that Lane had an open-ended personal leave to care for Schuster and could return whenever he felt ready... Detroit News:
Call it the most anticlimactic announcement of the spring: Greater Media will issue a press release this afternoon confirming that longtime WRIF-FM (101.1) morning personality Drew Lane will not be returning to the "Drew and Mike" show. "I just heard about it 10 minutes ago," Lane's attorney Mike Novak said, just after 4 p.m. "I haven't seen it, but it's making it official that he's not returning to the show." Lane had recently had a much-delayed sit-down meeting with Greater Media, and the decision came out of that meeting. Mike Clark, whom Novak also represents, will be continuing the show as is. "They'll bank on the momentum from the audience loyalty that's been built up over the years," Novak said... Drew Lane not returning to WRIF (Tue, 4/22)
