RIF's Doug Podell wins honor at FMQB 40th Anniversary Awards Dinner

Doug Podell, Director of Rock Programming for WRIF-FM 101.1 and WCSX-FM 94.7 was named major market Program Director of The Year at the Friday Morning Quarterback (FMQB) 40th Anniversary Awards Dinner held on Thursday, April 10th at the Loews Philadelphia Hotel in Philadelphia, PA.

In addition to being chosen by a group of radio industry leaders to receive the radio trade publication's top honor, Podell, along with the other four category finalists, was also officially inducted into the FMQB Hall of Fame in the "Program Director/Major Market" category.

"We are very proud Doug was chosen to receive this outstanding honor," said Greater Media President & CEO Peter Smyth. "It is a privilege to have him on our team in Detroit."

Radio talk show host Mildred Gaddis claimed on the air she knows someone who was at the alledged Manoogian Mansion Party. Rev. Horace L. Sheffield, III wants Gaddis to tell the police what she knows. In a letter addressed to Ella Bully-Cummings, chief of the Detroit Police Dept., and sent to all area media, April 8, Sheffield said he was listening to Gaddis' talk show, "Inside Detroit" on 1200 WCHB the same morning. "I took note of a conversation she was having with a caller that may have revealed a new lead in Ms. [Tamara] Green's murder investigation," Sheffield wrote to the chief...
