It's 5:30 a.m., half an hour before Mildred Gaddis opens up her "Inside Detroit" WCHB-AM microphone, but the callers can't wait. The station's phone lines are already buzzing with listeners bursting with opinions about Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick and the ongoing city psychodrama of text messages, strippers and council spats. On this early May morning, Detroit City Council was to vote on asking the governor to get involved. Gaddis finally opens up the phone lines. John from Detroit is on line one. "I say that they go for the gusto!" "Do you expect that to happen?" Gaddis demands in her precise, forceful diction...
