MSU Hockey announcer Jerry Marshall passes away

Jerry Marshall, the longtime voice of MSU Hockey, has passed away after a long illness.

A well-known radio voice in the greater Lansing area, Marshall had been the voice of Spartan Hockey at Munn Arena since 1972. Marshall also started a weekly radio show with head hockey coach in Ron Mason nearly 20 years ago, which continues today with the weekly Rick Comley Radio Show. His final game at Michigan State was the Spartans' banner-raising ceremony to celebrate the 2007 NCAA Championship on Oct. 19, 2007. He also served as the public address announcer for MSU baseball for several years.

Calling hours will be on Monday, June 23 from 2-4 and 6-8 at Estes-Leadley Funeral Home, 325 W. Washtenaw, Lansing. The funeral will take place at 12 noon on Tuesday.
