WOAP Online, WOAPonline.com, a new internet radio station serving Mid-Michigan, will make its official debut Monday, July 21st. The station will feature hits of the 1970's, 80's and 90's, along with hourly international news, local information, and hourly features from the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA). West Michigan air talent Bryan Mix-Dean will provide listeners with accurate local weather forecasts three time each hour.
Special programming from WOAP Online will include:
• 'Radio's Golden Days', a daily showcase of classic old-time radio programs, at 1 pm, 9 pm and midnight
• 'The Michigan Oldies Podcast', a weekly program featuring Oldies from the 1960's and 70's, hosted by Michigan's own Tony Clark and Art Van.
WOAP Online owner and manager Dan Drolett is excited about the new project. "Once again, we're utilizing new technology to provide truly local radio to anyone with access to the internet." Drolett was formerly co-owner of Clinton County Radio, an internet radio station which operated from 2004 to 2007, and was geared toward listeners in Clinton county. "WOAP Online will serve a slightly larger area, with information geared toward Clinton, Ionia and Shiawassee counties. Clinton county will still be our primary focus, however."
WOAP Online will be available worldwide to anyone with a high-speed internet connection.
"It's a great way for anyone away from Mid-Michigan, such as our troops in Iraq and Afghanistan, to keep up with what's happening back home and enjoy some great music at the same time", Drolett notes. "The beauty of internet radio is that your coverage area is the world."
