Detroit News:

This weekend, there will be several links at the Woodward Dream Cruise to one of Detroit's most beloved radio stations from the cruising era. From 1-9 p.m. today and 8 a.m.-7 p.m. Saturday, former CKLW- AM (800) helicopter traffic reporter Jo-Jo Shutty-MacGregor will deliver traffic reports on WOMC-FM (104.3). In the 1970s, the pony-tailed MacGregor was hired by CKLW to broadcast from the skies over Detroit (although of course, the station was based in Windsor). Her effervescent delivery and banter with the hosts became a mainstay of the station. It was at CKLW that she met and married Byron MacGregor, the news director with the dramatic, stentorian delivery who oversaw the station's edgy, compelling "20/20 News." MacGregor won't be broadcasting her reports from a chopper, but she will be perched up high, seated at the WOMC traffic tower in Pontiac, on the corner of Pike Street and Woodward Avenue... Encore for CKLW radio personalities (Fri, 8/15)

Detroit Free Press:

The wait is over for 1.3 million Comcast subscribers in the state of Michigan who went a year without a fully televised schedule of Michigan and Michigan State sports. The Big Ten Network debuts today on Comcast in most markets -- Tuesday in Detroit. Among the day's selections: Northwestern Wildcats football practice, Northwestern's 48-41 win in overtime over Michigan State last season and its 54-51 victory against U-M in 2000... Finally! Comcast kicks off Big Ten Network access (Fri, 8/15)

Elvis and cruising music are on AM 580 this Saturday

This Saturday, AM 580 will be "all shook up" as the station airs "The Elvis Presley '68 Comeback Radio Special". Celebrating the 40th anniversary of Elvis Presley's historic "68 Comeback Special", this one hour show takes listeners beyond the original broadcast and inside the extensive archive of unedited live shows, backstage rehearsals and talks with the people who worked on the original special! We also hear from Elvis, himself, through comments recorded throughout the footage and of course some of his best known songs. "The Elvis Presley '68 Comeback Radio Special" airs this Saturday at 6 PM on CKWW.

Also this Saturday, AM 580 is the place to hear real cruisin' Oldies on AM--where they were originally heard. Take a nostalgic trip down memory lane with the songs you cruised Woodward to back in the day. AM 580 revs up the 50's and 60's hits all day long!
