CKWW launches afternoon drive feature; to air Brian Wilson radio special Saturday
Oldies CKWW has added the "Freeway 5 at 5", a new drive-home feature airing during the Robb Duncan show. Each weekday at 5 PM, Robb digs through The Big 8 record library and archives to spin five chart-topping songs from The Big 8 (CKLW) music charts. He will also spotlight songs from the Keener 13 (WKNR) surveys as well. Published in the 60's and 70's, these weekly "hit lists" reflected the musical tastes of a generation in the Motor City.
This Saturday at 6 PM, AM580 will broadcast a behind the scenes radio special spotlighting the latest CD by Brian Wilson. His newest studio album, "That Lucky Old Sun" is out this week and marks a return to the Capitol Records label for the legendary writer, producer, arranger and Beach Boy. The CD features songs described as a "musical love letter from California" and captures the feel of the Beach Boys and Southern California from the 50's and 60's. The special also contains a smattering of Beach Boys material, new interview clips from Brian and his band, as well as such luminaries as Paul McCartney, David Crosby and others.
