As it turns out, it may have been a good thing that Jack Fischer missed Sunday's television broadcast of the Lions game. The Minnesota Vikings beat Detroit 12-10 on a last-second field goal. But Fischer, 69, of Au Gres, was surprised when he turned on the game - broadcast on WSMH Fox 66 out of Flint - and saw a 'no-service' message. "I thought the game may have been blacked out, but then I remembered they were playing in Minnesota," said Fischer. "Then it dawned on me that I had (Fox 66) on the other day and it said 'no service.' Fischer's neighbor concurred that he, too, had been without the station since Friday. "We thought maybe they had pulled it off the air," said Fischer, who uses a large antenna to tune into Fox 66. He wondered if his lack of service had anything to do with the Feb. 17, 2009, conversion to digital television. Turns out, it was neither. A spokeswoman for Fox 66 to The Times this morning that the station's analog transmitter went down on Friday and remains down today. She said the station hopes to restore service sometime today...
