Grand Rapids Press:

Larry Figurski is feeling pretty blessed these days. Making it through a major heart attack with only mild lasting effects will do that to a guy. On July 7, the popular WOOD-TV 8 anchor was making the short drive home after playing recreation hockey. He started to feel cramps in the base of his chest, but figured he had taken a hard shot on the ice. As he got closer to home, he started to sweat, felt tingling in his triceps and was nauseous. It was a struggle just to drive ... Almost as remarkable as his recovery is the fact that he was able to return to the air Aug. 9, only a month after experiencing the biggest scare of his life. This week, Figurski made the full-time move from working on WOOD's sports desk to the news side. While he'll miss doing sports, he said the switch gives him more schedule flexibility and more opportunities for growth with the station. His new duties, however, allow him to remain a radio analyst for Grand Rapids Griffins home games this season on WOOD-AM (1300), with play-by-play partner Bob Kaser...
