WNBY AM begins season-long coverage of Timberwolves Midget hockey

Today, Saturday November 8th, marks the start of a full season of coverage for the Newberry Timberwolves Midget Hockey Team on AM1450 WNBY. This afternoon's game at 2:15pm has the Timberwolves in the Alger Centennial Arena skating against Munising in their first game of the year. The Timberwolves were last years' U.P. Champions and went on to the State Championship.

Play-by-play for Timberwolves Hockey will be handled by broadcast veteran Casey Cook for WNBY and will cover over 20 regular season games, with additional coverage provided for the U.P. Playdowns.

"This is a first for any station in Newberry to provide coverage of a team in any sport outside of normal high school sports broadcasts," according to Cook. "Being Newberry's Sports Leader, we thought it would be a big boost for this team to broadcast their games this season and follow them down the road as they try to get back to the State Championship. Most of the team returns from last years' squad and it should be some real exciting hockey for the fans in Newberry."
