Ralph Soffredine is fed up with "bookend" holes in the ground at each end of Front Street downtown. "It is embarrassing to see that," said Soffredine, a city commissioner. "How long do you wait before you say to someone ... 'don't just leave a hole there or a fence around there forever'" ... Much of the clamor has focused on Federated Properties' empty lot at 124 W. Front St. and the unfinished Clovelly Broadcast Centre at 101 N. Park St ... developer Roy Henderson's property a few blocks east at the corner of Front and Park streets has been empty for years. Henderson put in a foundation for the Clovelly building, but hasn't done any construction since 2001, due to architecture and building height disputes, as well as the poor economy... WHYB and WLST swap formats in Menominee / Marinette, WI

Earlier this month, 'Cat Country' moved from WHYB FM 103.7 Menominee to the stronger signal of WLST FM 95.1 Marinette, WI with the adult contemporary format titled 'The Wave' moving from 95.1 to 103.7. 'The Wave' 103.7 also added the syndicated Bob and Sheri program for morning drive.

Both stations are operated by Armada Media - WLST 95.1 operates with 100,000 watts at 436 feet while WHYB 103.7 broadcasts with 7,000 watts at 299 feet.

The award-winning poet is co-host of Michigan Writers on the Air, broadcast the last Saturday and Sunday of each month on Interlochen Public Radio (IPR). Also hosted by Aaron Stander, an award-winning mystery novelist and reviewer, the program features conversations with -- and readings by -- local and visiting writers...
