John VanWyck has been the constant. Even before the "Talkin' Muskegon" radio show on WKBZ (1090 AM) was the "Talkin' Muskegon' radio show on WKBZ, VanWyck held forth on another Muskegon station. "Talk 'n' Tunes" was a Saturday morning staple on station WEFG (97.5 FM). Originally hosted by VanWyck and Oscar Osbo, that program's cast of characters included Greg Roberts, Anette Buchholz, Bob Eacker, Brian Werschem and yours truly. VanWyck, Roberts and Werschem eventually landed in the Clear Channel Communications studios on Green Street, a venue best known as the home of popular West Michigan country music station WMUS (106.9 FM). There, "Talkin' Muskegon" on WKBZ -- Muskegon's first and most historic radio station -- has become a Friday afternoon tradition: Real, legitimate local radio taking up the afternoon drive shift from 3-6 p.m. On April 3, the show celebrated its eighth anniversary, with VanWyck and Dean Smith at the controls, and Werschem when he finally arrived leading into the second hour.
