Cadiilac News:
After spending nearly 30 years reporting the news of Cadillac and Wexford County, veteran radio newsman Mike Paulin is out at WTCM after the economy forced the station to reorganize its news department. Paulin has worked two stints for WTCM owner Midwestern Broadcasting, first in the 1960s and again starting 15 years ago. His last day was Friday. "It was a surprise and shock to me when they made the announcement (on Oct. 2)," Paulin said. Although the station is closing the Cadillac news bureau, Paulin will stay on as building manager and cover some news stories as needed, said Jack O'Malley, WTCM's program and operations manager. "Just with the economy we're in, we're reorganizing the newsroom a little bit," O'Malley said on Oct. 8. The office at 1111 S. Mitchell St. is for sale, but O'Malley said the station's sales office will remain open and the news staff will continue to cover Cadillac and Wexford County news. O'Malley praised Paulin's professionalism... Veteran radio newscaster out (Sat, 10/17)
