Grand Rapids Press:

Could lightning strike twice for West Michigan rock bands? Last year, East Grand Rapids-bred The Good Luck Joes won FOX Sports Detroit's "April in the D" song contest, spotlighting the pop-flavored band in commercials about the Tigers, Pistons and Red Wings that aired from late March through April 2009. It also awarded the group $5,000 and a headlining slot in a concert on the Tigers' opening day in downtown Detroit. Well, the sports network once again is looking for entries from bands who create "songs that are positive and full of energy, promoting the virtues of Detroit with a focus on the Tigers, Pistons and Red Wings." The entry deadline for songs (which must be submitted on DVD and be no longer than 3 minutes, 30 seconds) is Feb. 10. Mail them to FOX Sports Detroit, 26555 Evergreen, Suite 90, Southfield, Michigan, 48076... 'April in the D' song contest once again seeks entries from sports-loving Michigan bands (Sat, 1/9)
