WDMJ AM 1320 Marquette has applied for a 180 day extension of its special temporary authority to operate with daytime power reduced to 280 watts in order to enable the station to reduce its power bill substantially while at the same time continuing to provide city grade coverage to Marquette. The original STA was granted on the basis of the WDMJ's showing that economic conditions in Michigan were severely depressed and that absent the cost savings that WDMJ would realize from the reduced power operations, the station would have been forced to suspend operations until economic conditions improved.
